Shock Wave Shin Pads – Red, Small
- Sparring shin pads
- Sold in pairs
- Adjustable velcro straps
- Lined for durability and comfort (and so they don’t slip when sweaty!)
- NOT made of “paint covered foam”
Product Description
Nice quality shin pads made primarily for martial artists. These are definitely a step up from the flat pieces of foam cut to shape. They close on the shin with two velcro straps – no left or right pad – and have a center strap across the leg.
The shin straps are wide for a comfortable, snug fit. This keeps them in place so they don’t slide around on your leg.
The outside of these pads are made of high quality artificial (PU) leather (similar to that used on the sides of “leather” car seats).
For sizing, we recommend you use your (men’s) t-shirt size as a guide. That generally works pretty well unless you’re at one end of the bell curve or the other (on the thin or heavy side). Since they are elastic straps, they do accommodate a range of sizes/diameters.
If you’re not sure of the sizing, go with the bigger size.

Piranha Gear Grappling Shin Instep Pads, Large
- High quality leather over high density foam padding
- Wrap-around neoprene to hold pad in place (not straps)
- Designed with grappling in mind
- Serious, professional gear for long and heavy workouts
Product Description
These are top-of-the-line leather and neoprene grappling shin instep pads. Used for grappling, MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing. They are NOT intended for beginners or casual students. They are serious gear if you don’t want to mess with the cheap stuff and want something that’s going to hold up to STRENEOUS workouts.
There is a key difference between these pads and others: no straps on the back of your leg.
They have a high quality leather front with extremely high density foam padding. That’s on top of a fully enclosed neoprene “sock” for your calf and an extra elastic strap under your instep (so they don’t ride up your leg). Not super easy to get on and off, but very comfortable when you’re using them.
Because the neoprene encloses your entire calf, they don’t slip around when your fighting takes you to the ground. However, with no leg straps, nothing is cutting into the back of your calf. A VERY welcome change from the pads with straps.
Also, because the padding on the front is so dense, these are VERY popular with anyone doing Muay Thai or kick boxing. For most other “stand-up” arts (where you rarely go to the ground for any length of time), these are overkill and, honestly, you can find cheaper pads that would work just as well.
These have a “traditional” Muay Thai lace/cord tie around the top of the calf. Used to help keep the pads secure – though we find the laces aren’t really needed. You can obviously keep them tucked in (or cut them off like we do for grappling).
If you’re looking at pair of pads (whether you get them from us or not) make sure you can see the back of the pads. If they don’t tell you different, the pads are using straps to hold the shin pad to your leg and they are NOT the same thing.
These are truly some of the finest pads on the market and, if you’re a serious martial artist, they are worth every penny.
