i am a beginner in martial arts, so my opinions should be considered from that perspective. I did not learn much from this book. The explanations are some times hard to follow and it just doesn’t say much. If you want to read something useful for martial arts, read Speed by Loren Christensen.

This is a good straightforward book that is fairly comprehensive. Practicing the techniques in this book you can develop a solid foundation in grappling techniques that will give you a real edge in sport or self-defense situations.
Many of the techniques are difficult to perform but are effective. The things is that with some techniques in this book if you perform them right they will work great but if you perform them incorrectly they won’t work at all. Just know this, the fault is with you and not with the book. This book was written by a kung-fu blackbelt who also has a background in kempo karate. He knows what he’s doing. Just learn how to do the techniques correctly and you will find they are quite effective.
To really take advantage of this book you need to practice the techniques in it with a training partner.
If you practice the techniques in this book 2 hours a day with a training partner every day you will become REALLY GOOD at grappling and will be taking full advantage of this book.
Highly reccomended. Practice techniques with a partner.
Great introduction to grappling. A very practical and informative that you can use to effectively improve your skills.

Sifu Noah Knapp has not only written another pure segment of his awesome threesome of books, but has written something that transcends all barriers so that men, women, children and all those who want to feel free with their inner self, can do so without fear.
His techniques are perfect for all genders for use in the real world and not something just practiced in a classroom.
I can say that I walk down the streets, enter strange new areas and attend crowded gatherings with confidence now.
There are people who are gifted and those who share their talents. Sifu Noah Knapp is and does it with flare.

Sifu Noah Knapp has done it again. As a kung Fu instructor I have been a fan of his books for a long time now. This third book is amazing. Sifu Noah explains the intricate aspects of kung fu grappling in an amazingly easy to understand way. Though whole body grappling is the overtone of this manual, each section covers a different area of the body, dissecting it to it’s core mechanics and explaining how everything can and does work together. My beginners could easily understand this, but I honestly was surprised that when, while reading this, that I found myself rethinking moves I have performed for decades. This book is martial arts gold.

This is the kind of book which allows anyone to clearly understand what is really happening when a grappling move is done so quickly and with force…where it came from, how it started. Enjoyable to read and simple to understand. Sifu Noah Knapp makes it possible to understand the grappling art and see why so many of us have stood watching and wondering, ” how did he do that!?”…Well, at least I have and this book has helped very much. Great book to have. Thank you.
