Shock Wave Shin Pads – Red, Small

  • Sparring shin pads
  • Sold in pairs
  • Adjustable velcro straps
  • Lined for durability and comfort (and so they don’t slip when sweaty!)
  • NOT made of “paint covered foam”

Product Description

Nice quality shin pads made primarily for martial artists. These are definitely a step up from the flat pieces of foam cut to shape. They close on the shin with two velcro straps – no left or right pad – and have a center strap across the leg.

The shin straps are wide for a comfortable, snug fit. This keeps them in place so they don’t slide around on your leg.

The outside of these pads are made of high quality artificial (PU) leather (similar to that used on the sides of “leather” car seats).

For sizing, we recommend you use your (men’s) t-shirt size as a guide. That generally works pretty well unless you’re at one end of the bell curve or the other (on the thin or heavy side). Since they are elastic straps, they do accommodate a range of sizes/diameters.

If you’re not sure of the sizing, go with the bigger size.

  • My husband had these on his wish list for Christmas because he didn’t like the pair he bought from a local super athletic store.

According to him, these fit great on his first use during a post holiday sparring match. His shins faired better than his ribs…

The package came early, and I had them in plenty of time for Christmas. This is definitely the place we will shop for any future karate gear.

  • This pad is great for Muay Thai or for someone who wears tennis shoes in their concrete substance gym floor, because not all gyms are created equal. So if you, know how to kick and grapple, and need to spar where leg locks may be used, these are perfect, as they don’t limit your feet in anyway. Also, they are perfect because they protect your shin, your you should only be kicking with your shin anyway. Sometimes you miss, and this is a good reminder that you can’t miss. Good protection, excellent support, these pads don’t twist, rotate, go up or down. They stick right were you had them, and they stay that way. With Grappling they move a little, but so does headgear, not everything is perfect. But training in stand-up. These are great to have and to use.

Shock Wave Shin Pads – Red, Small

  • This Shock Wave pair makes it my 6th pair of shin guards that I own now. I have a couple of MMA-friendly pairs and three of the standup-specific pairs. Both of the aforementioned styles protect the instep, but these Shock Wave pairs are by far my favorite.

    1. The MMA/grappling-friendly style is great, stays on securely but is hard to take off after use due to the moisture on the neoprene back.

    2. The standup-specific style is good but shifts when grappling is mixed in with strikes training.

    3. Both styles protect the instep but as a matter of preference, I’d rather not have that feature. I kick mostly with my shins but hitting bone with my foot doesn’t really bother me too much (especially during high kicks) so I’d rather forego that feature.

    4. All the previous pairs cost a lot more as well!!!

Those things considering, I find these to be the easiest to use for grappling plus standup. They’re much easier to put on and take off and stays in place for any sort of training style. Also, the pad is a little thinner which is perfect for me! It allows me comfort but still keeps me from hurting inexperienced, less-conditioned, training partners with bare shin kicks. I don’t even use the other five anymore as these are my “go to’s.”

Got a nice little note from the vendor on the invoice also saying, “we hope you enjoy your pads,” which gave it a good little personal touch.

I would highly recommend these if all of the above fits your preference as well. You can’t beat the price! Get a pair just to have a reserve set if you have to. It’s worth it!
