Martial Arts and Karate Classes For Kids

Martial Arts and Karate Classes For Kids

Martial Arts and Karate Classes For Kids

Kids karate classes are a great way for children to get fit and healthy. Martial arts training offers plenty of cardiovascular exercise and can improve flexibility and overall body conditioning.

Many parents view karate or martial arts classes as violent and dangerous, and with the huge number of violent movies and television programs out there, they can hardly be blamed. The truth is that kids karate classes don’t teach violence.  While it’s true that punching and kicking is a part of many forms of martial arts, a qualified Michigan martial arts school or karate studio will focus on teaching your kids to avoid conflict.

Kids karate classes are designed to give children the tools they need to avoid potentially violent situations first and foremost, or resolve them in a nonviolent way. While learning karate, self defense techniques are also taught, which gives them confidence in knowing that if a violent situation can’t be avoided, they’ll be able to effectively defend themselves. These are both invaluable lessons at a time when bullying is such a prevalent concern in schools across the United States.

There are a plenty of martial arts styles to choose from. Whether you enroll your kids in a karate academy, mixed martial arts classes or tae kwon do, you’ll find that they share a common set of philosophies. Aside from the physical benefits and self defense skills, kids are taught the importance of respecting themselves and others, discipline and self control, and the virtue of helping others. By using a belt system to promote students through the skill levels, children also learn how to set and achieve goals.

How To Choose A Martial Arts School

Not all kids karate classes are the same. To find the best one for your children, be prepared to actually visit three or four local martial arts academies. You should meet the instructors, observe a class to see how they interact with the students, and ask plenty of questions. The instructor, or “Sensei”, is the single most important consideration in finding the right dojo. If he doesn’t have a good rapport with his students, he won’t be able to effectively teach them the most important principles of the martial arts.

Here are a few other things to look for when seeking a karate academy or martial arts school:

How long has the school been in business? 75% of new martial arts schools go out of business in the first 1-2 years. If they’ve been around for a few years and built a reputation, they’re doing something right.

Discipline and structure- A big part of martial arts training is discipline and self control. If the kids are allowed to run wild, then they’re not learning karate. It requires discipline and a well structured lesson plan to make a karate academy successful.

Total cost- There may be more to it than just tuition. Some martial arts schools charge separate fees for registration and membership, belts and uniforms. Find out the total cost right up front to avoid surprises after you’ve already enrolled your kids.

We can help you start your search for Michigan martial arts school right now. Get your kids started in learning the mental, social and physical skills that they’ll carry with them throughout their lives.

We are making it easier to find the right activities for your child in your area. Trying to use the internet to find Gymnastics Clubs, Music Lessons, Dance Studios, Tutoring Centers, Karate and Martial Arts Programs can sometimes become a cumbersome process online. Our www.GetYourKidsOffTheCouch.com program eliminates the difficulty in finding the best activities for your kids by placing them in one central location on the web and allows you to narrow your search results by zip code. Kids being involved in activities are so important and want it to be easy as possible to find the right activities for your child. We don’t want your kids to miss out.

How Karate For Kids Teaches Discipline

How Karate For Kids Teaches Discipline

How Karate For Kids Teaches Discipline

This article is about how the Karate for Kids program can help teach kids discipline. It goes on to detail some of the ways this will occur.

karate for kids

As a martial arts instructor, I have been teaching karate for kids for more than 20 years. During that time, I have found parents bring their children to our unique Karate for Kids program for a variety of reasons. Some kids are overweight and Karate for Kids helps them to slim down, improve their body image and increase self-esteem. Others are bullied at school or lack confidence and find that martial arts bolsters their self-worth and helps them develop the confidence to be leaders. However, a majority of parents seem to appreciate that our Karate for Kids program is a great means of teaching their children better discipline.

Studying martial arts is hard work for anyone. To improve at it requires pushing yourself to surpass previous boundaries, whether they are physical, mental or otherwise. Our Karate for Kids program is an excellent means of instilling a sense of the value of this hard work in young people. Many kids come into one of our four award winning martial arts school locations for the Karate for Kids program lacking focus or direction. Many others have had disciplinary problems at home or at school. Karate for Kids teaches even the most rambunctious among them to be good citizens, show respect and get along well with others.

Martial arts is a physical discipline and to progress to the next level you must apply yourself. For students to do well in our Karate for Kids program, they must apply themselves, often with a focus and determination they have not known before. Many parents observe that after some time in the Karate for Kids program, their once rambunctious kids begin to carry that focus and determination over into other areas of their life like their school work.

As a seventh degree black belt with two decades teaching experience, part of my work has been to develop Changing Lives ATA Martial Arts’ unique Karate for Kids Life Skills system. This system was developed in order to help children with various essential life skills such as, respect, courtesy, self-discipline, self-esteem, self-confidence, and listening skills. Some common results observed by parents whose children participate in the Karate for Kids program include improved grades at school and displaying better social skills when interacting with their peers.

Our Karate for Kids program is intended to assist students in three fundamental areas off the martial arts mat. These are at school at home and socially. We also invite parents to create their own “wish list” to better allow our instructors to target specific problem behaviors and help minimize or eliminate them. And while our Karate for Kids program is ideal for teaching kids discipline, most kids stay in the program because it is fun.

If you would like to find out more about how our Karate for Kids program can help to teach your child discipline, contact our headquarters at 757-471-9002 or visit our website at www.atakick.com and check out the Karate for Kids ages 6-12 section.

Karate For Kids: Martial Arts For Children

Karate For Kids: Martial Arts For Children

Many parents are thinking of a way to divert their children’s attention on activities which are worth it and useful. They are actually looking for options other than televisions and computer games. This is a hard task since kids are naturally after the fun and excitement. Learning is way out of their minds especially on ages five to ten. For this reason, they end up with those things which are not that helpful.

But it is as if karate comes with a big and abrupt answer. Karate is not only for adults but also for young ones. Karate for kids has been a common training ground for the young in mind and heart. Karate for kids websites such as this is indeed very helpful. They allow parents to browse over their options. In addition to that, it makes searching and gathering information more and more convenient.

There are many reasons why karate is suitable for kids. The first one is that karate is attractive to kids. As you might have observed it, their attention is easily caught with movies that include punching and kicking. To save you from explaining to kids the truth behind these events, karate lessons are enough. With karate, you need not drag your kid to the karate school like you did when you brought him to his first class. In fact, upon sharing the idea to your kid, you will surely get the hug and kisses you deserve.

Karate for kids is also recommended because it does not eat so much the time of the child. Most of the time the schedule is placed after regular classes. Thus, it will not intervene or slow down the child’s studies. In addition to that, as a parent, knowing where your child is going after class and whom he is dealing with is very important. With karate classes, you will have no doubt. You will even have a partner in keeping your child in with socialization trend. No more gangs and groups which can influence your child and may steer him in the wrong path. Most importantly, it teaches life skills such as discipline and respect.

Karate is one of the few martial arts disciplines that work best in kids too. It does not only develop the child physically but also mentally. They are placed in certain situations and allowed to act according to what they think is right. This makes a kid’s mental capability to put to test. Karate instructors are sure to teach them necessary moves too to avoid and escape dangerous circumstances. In short, karate for kids develops self-defence methods.

Karate for kids websites such as these are important. Parents who do not have prior knowledge in karate will find themselves enriched with the information provided for in sites like this. Aside from that it allows parents to have options. They can compare on the offers offered by each karate school and thus makes a wiser decision. They can also easily contact the schools by the websites provided for.

In Columbia Pictures’ The Karate Kid, 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could’ve been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother’s (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying – and the feeling is mutual – but culture differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, dre’s feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts ‘the karate kids’ on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life. The Karate Kid Cast: Jackie Chan, Jaden Smith, Taraji P. Henson The Karate Kid movie trailer courtes Columbia Pictures. The Karate Kid opens in US theaters June 11th, 2010. The Karate Kid is directed by Harald Zwart.
