United Friends of the Children is partnering with Los Angeles? most celebrated culinary talent to present the third annual food and wine event, Cultivate LA. The event will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at a private Bel Air estate set on eight stunning acres.
?We are so pleased to provide LA foodies, wine enthusiasts and our community supporters at large with a truly unique experience ? the opportunity to sample the best tastes our city has to offer in the most remarkable setting, at one of the most breath-taking residences,? says Toni Schulman, UFC Board member and event co-chair. ?We are keeping the event intimate in stature so that our guests can easily mingle with chefs and friends and enjoy a festive garden party, all while supporting our city?s foster youth population.?
The evening will feature chef and actress Debi Mazar (Cooking Channel?s Extra Virgin, Entourage); restaurateur Ann Gentry (Real Food Daily) signing her new cookbook, Vegan Family Meals; and chefs Brendan Collins (Waterloo & City) and Roy Choi (A-Frame and Kogi) offering savory tastings from their renowned and much-loved restaurants.
Additional participants include Tavern, Tasting Kitchen, The Foundry on Melrose, Beverly Hills Caviar, Street, Crustacean, Melisse, Patina, Beverly Hills Cheese Store, Cake Monkey, Coolhaus Ice Cream, Sprinkles, Mondavi Reserve Wines, Frank Family Vineyards and The Macallan.
?UFC?s mission is to expand opportunities for LA?s foster youth ? help them find jobs, rent their own apartment, attend and graduate from college, and to have meaningful relationships with others,? says Polly Williams, President of UFC. ?Foster youth need the chance to build a strong sense of self that makes a successful adulthood possible.?
Supporters who opt for VIP ticket packages will enjoy attending an elegant VIP reception. The reception immediately precedes the event and provides guests the opportunity to sample reserve wines from esteemed vineyards paired with food by chef Brendan Collins.
?I was fostered by my grandparents at the age of 11 when my parents divorced, so I thoroughly appreciate the importance of child fostering. Without ?Syb & Harry,? I would never have gained the strength to achieve any of my goals. This event is so very close to my heart, and I will always support it 110%,? adds chef Brendan Collins.
Rounding out the exciting event will be a large format wine auction of more than 40 rare, fine wines including Ridge Montebello 6L, Mondavi Reserve Cabernet and Shafer 2005 Merlot.
