Bay Area Boxes – The Most Convenient, Affordable, Earth-Friendly Moving Box Solution in the San Francisco Bay Area
Redwood City, CA (PRWEB) July 8, 2004 If you’re planning a move in the Bay Area, it just got easier and a lot more earth-friendly, thanks to an innovative, new company: Bay Area Boxes. You can now get high quality, USED boxes for your move, delivered to your door at a fraction of the cost of new ones.
In this slow economy, two people hit by layoffs are making lemonade out of lemons. Both founders, Mike Regan and Scott Morris had been laid off in the recent Silicon Valley-wide downsizing. Together, they were looking to develop a business idea that combined social and environmental responsibility, as well as financial viability.
When Mike and his wife were moving to a new home, the lightning bolt hit them: Why, with all the hassles of moving, does finding moving boxes have to be so difficult? Buying new boxes is ridiculous (They are expensive and a terrible waste of natural resources). Asking friends for boxes is cumbersome at best. And then there’s “dumpster diving…”
The two knew there were too many boxes prematurely going to the recycler, or worse yet, the dump. Keeping those boxes in circulation until their useful life was over, is just one small way they feel they can make a difference. “We wanted to set an example for our kids; in this time of conspicuous consumption, it can be cool to reuse,” states Mike Regan.
Scott and Mike saw the opportunity to offer a much-needed service to people moving in the Bay Area. Good, used boxes for a low price, ordered online for convenience, and then delivered directly to their customers at no extra charge.
One of many satisfied customers reports, “Bay Area Boxes was great! They made one of the most annoying, time consuming, and frustrating parts of moving just go away. Great people and great service!”
Mike and Scott knew there was a market for used boxes for individuals moving homes and apartments. What they didn’t expect was that so many businesses would choose to take advantage of their services for the same reasons. Today, Bay Area Boxes contracts with many businesses, realtors, recyclers and movers in the Bay Area, offering a unique and much needed service to them.

Where to Get your Moving Boxes
| Where to Get your Moving Boxes
Where to get free moving boxes MOVING boxes’ is the term used for those corrugated cardboard boxes in which you pack your belongings for the purpose of moving them from one location to another. This is usually done while moving home or office though these boxes can also be used for storage of infrequently used items. For the purpose of this report, however, we shall look at them as boxes used for moving, not storage. Why look for free boxes: Many people in United States who have moved home or office were shocked at how much the apparently simple boxes cost if bought new. The fact is that these boxes can dent your wallet; hence it is prudent to look for boxes that you can get for free. Another reason is related to the environment: moving boxes are made of cardboard, which comes at a cost to nature. They should therefore be reused as many times as possible before being recycled. Free boxes are usually used boxes; hence reuse of such boxes minimizes cost to nature. Where to look: There are both terrestrial and online sources of free boxes. We shall consider them one by one; Terrestrial sources: Neighbors, friends, colleagues: Nothing spreads better than word-of-mouth. Spread the word that you are looking for used moving boxes among neighbors, friends, relatives, and colleagues. Someone in your neighborhood might have just moved and wants to dispose of their used boxes. Or, for that matter, someone in your office, or someone you know, knows someone who has moved. If these people were to resell their used boxes to the market, it would fetch 15%-20% of what they paid. Many of them might just want to give them away for free, if only for good PR. People close to you are therefore one conduit to obtaining free moving boxes. Stores and supermarkets: No, not Wal-Mart. They do receive their wares in high-quality moving boxes, but don’t give away the empty ones for free. However, there are many other small-to-medium-sized stores and supermarkets all over the United States – particularly those that sell TV sets, computers, or alcoholic drinks – who receive good quality moving boxes. Talk to some in your neighborhood, especially those to whom you have been a customer. There is a fair chance that they will give you their empty boxes for free, howsoever reluctantly! Your moving company: The moving company you hire to transport your goods may, or may not, provide a few moving boxes for free. If they do, the number and type of boxes will most probably not be enough for your requirements. However, do take into account the boxes they will give you gratis and then look at other sources. If you straightway obtain boxes from other sources without taking into account the free boxes that the moving company will supply, you will end up with more boxes than you need. United States Postal Service (USPS): Free Priority Mail boxes from USPS have been available for years now. More recently, USPS has started offering free Flat Rate boxes too, with and without co-branding with eBay. If you are using USPS for moving some of your items, make sure your get your boxes from them for free. The sizes of these boxes also comply with USPS specifications (boxes of other sizes may warrant extra shipping charges). Online sources: Moving Box Exchange: This is a service that connects parties that want to dispose of their moving boxes and those wanting them for free. Visit http://www.hribar.com/iframe_recycle_boxes.html where you will find many postings from people having, or wanting, moving boxes. Of course, a majority of posts are from people who want free boxes, yet there are some who are looking for takers. However, please note that boxes may not always be available for free at this website. Freecycle Network: This is a network that promotes waste reduction in the United States. It hosts local groups across the country and provides individuals and non-profit organizations an electronic forum to ‘recycle’ unwanted items, including moving boxes. Visit http://freecycle.org and follow the given instructions to post your own request or respond to offers from others. CraigsList:This is a network of online urban communities featuring free classified advertisements of a wide range of products and services in different American cities (as well as cities in over 50 other countries!). From time to time, it has been seen that members have been giving away moving boxes for free within their own cities. Visit www.craigslist.org, click on the city or state you are in, and look into the ‘free’ link. You may not always find boxes listed, but try: you might just be lucky. Food box precaution: If the free boxes you have obtained are from food stores, they might contain insect eggs and insects such as roaches that can travel in the boxes. Therefore, either avoid boxes from food stores or spray an insecticide into them before you start packing. Avoid insecticide-sprayed boxes to pack kitchenware. Summary Moving boxes, used once, are usually of little value to the family or office that has moved from one location to another. Trashing them would be an act of social irresponsibility since moving boxes are made of cardboard that is made at a cost to nature (hence should be reused as many times as possible). People planning to move can therefore try to obtain moving boxes for free and there indeed are many sources for free boxes – ranging from friends and neighbors to local stores to cyberspace. However, one precaution that must be taken is to confirm whether they were used to pack food products in the past; if yes, you might have unwanted roach guests at your new location. Either avoid such boxes, or spray an insecticide into them, but don’t use them to pack kitchen items. |

Using Recycled Boxes When Moving
| Using Recycled Boxes When Moving
With the rising concern about our fragile planet, more people are looking for ways to lead environmentally friendly lives. This includes implementing measures to save energy, recycle, and protect our natural resources. Recycling has become a method that everyone can put into practice. When moving to a new home or apartment, people can use recycled boxes to help protect the environment and save money. There are many reasons why people choose to recycled boxes when moving, including: Using recycled boxes cuts down on waste because boxes are used more than once. It is environmentally friendly. Up to 65% less energy is required to make new paper from recycled paper than from virgin wood. (U.S. Department of Energy) Every ton of recycled paper saves approximately 17 trees and millions of gallons of water. Recycled boxes are the same quality and strength as new boxes. There are many economical advantages to using recycled boxes Box manufacturers have improved boxes and now make stronger boxes using less material. There is a growing demand for old corrugated containers which can economically benefit communities who recycle these containers. Moving companies that provide recycled boxes choose their boxes from factory surplus boxes, boxes that contain a minor defect such as size, type, or misprint, boxes bought from homeowners who have recently moved, as well as used boxes purchased from other suppliers such as self storage companies and national moving companies. It is very easy to obtain environmentally friendly packaging. You can use your own recycled newspapers or ask your friends to start saving their papers. For delicate items, you can use recycled paper and grocery bags which are heavier. There are biodegradable pellets that are made from recycled diapers or corn starch. Environmentally friendly packaging also includes recycled plastic wrap, recycled bubble wrap, recycled paper towel, and towels. There are now packing peanuts that are made from recycled material as well as bio degradable materials. Wood pallets are often used when moving or shipping items, however, there are now plastic pallets that are made of recycled products. This not only saves trees but saves you money because you can reuse the pallets. There are a number of economical advantages to using recycled boxes when moving that include: Buyback Guarantee: Some moving companies will offer clients a Buyback guarantee for their moving boxes. They will buy the moving boxes back after the customer has finished moving. The price can vary from full purchase price or a percentage of what the customer paid for the boxes. Take a Box, Leave a Box: Some moving companies will provide a box drop-off location for companies and individuals so that new customers will be able to take the boxes for their own moving needs. Moving Box Rentals: Use rentals if possible. Some companies will rent boxes and supplies to their customers. The boxes are usually a heavy plastic. Renting boxes eliminates waste. There are other ways one can obtain recycled moving boxes. Check with supermarkets and other store managers to see if they have extra boxes. If you are unable to obtain used boxes, purchasing new boxes made from 100% recycled materials is a good choice. Boxes made from 100% recycled materials are just as strong as new boxes. Everyday more people are doing their part to protect the environment. With millions of people moving each year, choosing recycled moving boxes has become a positive way to help protect the planet. It is good for the environment, community, and your wallet. Specializes in moving boxes, used and recycled boxes and supplies and promotes green-to-green environmental savings. |

Bellator: Zuffa lawsuit “a big pile of nothing,” company moving forward undistracted
While Zuffa, LLC – the parent-company of the Ultimate Fighting
Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting – has traditionally been
voracious in terms of protecting its product, Thursday night’s
revelation that the company was suing the Bellator Fighting
Championships, as well as influential agent Ken Pavia, came as quite a
surprise.
Bellator officials were just as taken aback, according to the company’s newly hired attorney, Patrick English.
“I was asked to represent Bellator yesterday when they heard there had
been a lawsuit filed,” English told MMAjunkie.com.
“Originally, they had no idea what it was about. It was actually Kevin
Iole who was kind enough to tell me what it was about.”
