Watch Ben Henderson vs Pettis Fight Video Preview Ben “Smooth” Henderson, last saw action at WEC 48, when he submitted former lightweight champ Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in under two minutes which marks the second time the 26-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt has bested the Greg Jackson trained fighter.

Henderson also submitted former champion Jamie Varner with a third-round guillotine choke at WEC 46 to unify the promotion’s co-existing 155-pound titles. Ben is known to be an avid yoga practitioner known for his considerable flexibility in the cage making him almost un-submittable. He has earned six of his 13 wins through submission and is still undefeated 5-0 in the WEC cage. Henderson has been stopped only once in his career by second-round knockout against Chad Klingensmith at Ring of Fire 27 in December 2006.

Anthony Pettis is on a roll, collecting three straight victories this year in the WEC, defeating Danny Castillo, Alex Karalexis, and Shane Roller via third-round submission at WEC 50 in August earning him the top contender status. Pettis is a protege of famed kickboxer Duke Roufus (who also trains UFC stars Ben Rothwell, Eric Schafer, Alan Belcher, Pat Barry, Razak Al-Hassan and Matt Mitrione), the Milwaukee based Pettis also touts only one career defeat — a split decision loss to Bart Palaszewski at WEC 45 last December.

The fight between Henderson and Pettis will be the last for WEC before merging with the UFC brand. The fight video will be aired live on Versus.

Trainer Roufus says Pettis’ WEC 53 kick inspired by “Ong Bak” cult movie

Believe it or not, the sensational kick Anthony Pettis used to floor
Benson Henderson was inspired by the cult martial-arts classic, “Ong
Bak.”

Pettis’ coach, Duke Roufus, said he’s played around with “old-school”
Muay Thai techniques for several years, and the crazy kick that Pettis
landed is just one such attack.

“I just believe in being creative,” Roufus today told MMAjunkie.com. “Anthony is a lifelong martial artist, and I’m a
lifelong martial artist, and we’re just trying to keep evolving and
blend it all together.”
