Combining a holiday with Muay Thai Training Thailand

Thailand has long been a favourite destination for holiday makers from across the globe looking for rest and relaxation but people are now increasingly looking for something to do aside from lying on the beach and the customary temple visits. Aside from various forms of mediation, yoga and rafting as additional activities more people are developing an interest in the ancient Thai sport of Muay Thai.

The number of specialist gyms and specialists which run training sessions and structured programs are growing rapidly and establishments can be found right across Thailand from Chiang Mai to Phuket. The training courses on offer range from a single session right up to a month of intensive training and are suitable for men, women and children.

Muay Thai not only helps in developing all round fitness but can also help a person detox and build a level of self discipline. But beware, the level of commitment needed to complete a one month training course is considerable and people who do not usually engage in much physical exercise should check with their doctor before signing up.

One of the main reasons why people decide to engage in a period of Muay Thai Training Thailand is to learn the art of self defence and Muay Thai encompasses a number of different ways people can defend themselves. Generally speaking there are six recognised forms of self defence in Muay Thai, these include: Blocking, Redirection, Avoidance, Evasion, Disruption and Anticipation. After a period of time these six self defence elements can be learnt and put to good use in the event of a personal attack.

Like the majority of full contact sport, training in Muay Thai is based around body conditioning and the exercises can be quite strenuous. Running, skipping and shadow boxing are just three elements of a typical training regime that contribute to the level of fitness and also the level of toughness needed for competitive competition.

The best combination for many people would be the combination of a relaxing holiday and a period of fitness training at a recognised Muay Thai gym. To gain any long term benefit from the training regime participants are encouraged to enrol for at least a week, longer if possible. One week training and a week on the beach, surely the perfect holiday combination.
