Things always get a little freaky when MMA and New Year’s Eve meet in Japan.
That’ll be the case with this weekend’s “DREAM: New Year! 2011″ event, where
pro wrestling, mixed-rules bouts and other attractions join the slate
of MMA bouts.
Ikuhisa “Minowaman” Minowa, of course, is no stranger to such matchups.
In fact, back in September at DREAM.17, he took on Mongolian wrestling
champ Baru Harn, who had a 60-pound advantage.

recent Shark Fights 17 headliner between UFC veteran Jake Rosholt and
Matt Horwich.
The fight took place back in July and aired on HDNet.
The hard-fought contest saw Rosholt returning from a no-contest result
and hoping to win his fifth-straight official contest facing Horwich, a
more experienced veteran of the sport looking to replicate his November
2010 win over the wrestling standout.

A few days before a clash with MMA legend Jens Pulver at Resurrection
Fight Alliance’s debut event in Nebraska, Tim Elliott was featured in
MMAjunkie.com “Fight Path” series.
He discussed how some productive wrestling sessions with wrestling
novice Terry Etim convinced him that – with some hard work – he could
pick up MMA just as quickly as the UFC fighter picked up wrestling.
In his 10th pro fight, Elliott decided to test his theory against a former UFC champ with 12 years’ pro experience.

HDNet Fights Video Vault: Daniel Cormier vs. Tony Johnson in KOTC title fight
Prior to his fight at this past weekend’s “Strikeforce: Houston” event -
just a week prior, in fact – Daniel Cormier also competed in a King of
the Cage title fight.
It was part of an impressive stretch in which the heavyweight prospect fought three times in a 21-day span.

as Cormier takes on fellow undefeated fighter and KOTC heavyweight
champion Tony Johnson.
