The StrikeForce IS THE BEST fire steel that I have used. This thing is EXCELLENT! I am going to buy a few more just to have for later use and to give out as gifts!
I highly suggest buying this if you are considering a fire steel! Well worth the money and could easily save your life!

After a snowy Friday night, I went out for a brief trek into the woods today with around 2 inches of snow on the ground. My
thought was that the conditions were perfect for testing this device. Well, DO NOT expect to start you fire with your first
strike! As a matter of fact, before you go out into the woods, practice with the starter until you feel comfortable with
it. The cord connecting the striker to the body of the Strike Force gets shorter and more inconvenient as you grow impatient
and frustrated because you can’t get the fire going! So…just take your time. It definitely works but you need to be patient. Place your WetFire tinder in a
small plastic Ziplock inside the tinder compartment so you could use a little at a time and store the rest. Better than the
WetFire tinder is a Vaseline-soaked cotton ball. If the conditions are windy and you can’t control the small pieces of tinder from
blowing around, your cotton ball will really save you a lot of time and frustration and catches fire very quickly. I’ll definitely store some in there from now on. The Orange color
makes the StrikeForce easy to find and in a survival situation could help make you more visible. In conclusion, the StrikeForce is a winner and the only reason I gave it 4 stars is that in windy
and cold conditions, it takes a little time and perseverance to start a fire with it.

Although the Strikeforce is a bit bulky, the addition of a compartment increases its versatility. I’ve used the Strikeforce on camping outings during heavy rains and snow and it has never failed. Also, I once had to cross a waist high river and soaked all my equipment. Only my firestarter and flashlight were still functioning properly.

I recently bought one after seeing one in action. It will light dry tinder, like dry straw, in a single strike. I used it during a recent canoe/camping trip and tried out the wetfire tinder that comes with this product. It was late after canoeing 20 miles in the rain and the striker did get wet. It lit first try and got my birtch bark going. This allowed me to dry out all of my soaked kindling and have a fire for cooking and drying out my clothes. If you have a survival kit get this for the ability to start fires wet or dry.

Can’t imagine not having this. We also have 120-hr candles, food bars, dynamo shortwave radios, cell phone connectors to the windup radios to power our phones during outages, etc. A non-match, non-lighter-fluid firestarter is essential for when things go bad.
